About Jim

J. E. (Jim) Garrett -SAMS-SA / USSA #4222

Jim has been around boats and boating for over 40 years as a sail and power boat owner, keel boat sailor and boat fleet maintenance director for a local yacht club. He recently retired after 40 years in the Industrial and Construction Equipment leasing Business, working the last 12 years managing contracts in the Petrochemical Industry.

His background covers diesel engines, mechanical systems and sailing vessel rigging. He has experience with various types of standing rigging including wire, rod, and fractional as well as running rigging setup. He currently serves as Fleet Captain for Ware River YC and is on their B of D.

Jim is a member of The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, US Surveyors Association, American Boat & Yacht Council as a Certified Standards Advisor, International Association of Marine Investigators, BoatUS & NASBLA Boating Safety Association.
